When we first introduced Simsort at the LeadingAge Startup Garage, our vision was simple yet ambitious: use technology to eliminate the constant headache of lost laundry and misplaced equipment in residential care communities. Over the last ten years, we’ve had the privilege of helping care staff automate laundry sorting, perform closet audits, protect resident privacy, and ensure essential assets remain right where they belong.
It is with a heavy heart, but complete transparency, that I am announcing the formal closure of Simsort LLC.
Understanding the Dynamics: Market Shifts & Supply Chains
Launching just months before the COVID-19 pandemic, we navigated unprecedented operational hurdles without early-stage state or federal relief. In the post-pandemic landscape, investment priorities across senior living communities shifted away from laundry operations.
At the same time, we faced severe supply chain bottlenecks regarding our specialty, laundry-safe RFID tags. Component scarcity forced price increases and made maintaining a steady, reliable supply unsustainable. Though we absorbed operational losses for ten consecutive years to support our mission and customers, an orderly closure has become the necessary and responsible path forward.

Digital Service Shutdown (November 30, 2026): All mobile apps, web features, and portal.simsort.com will remain active through November 30, after which all digital services will be turned off.

Requesting Your Data Export (By November 1, 2026): To secure a full export of your resident inventory and tracking records, please email us before November 1.
